Abstract
Previous work on the rapid formation of a hydride of SmCo5 at room temperature is confirmed. It is shown that the rate of release of hydrogen is related to the rate of transformation of the hydride to the unhydrided compound, rather than by bulk diffusion of hydrogen. The rate‐controlling step is probably the allotropic transformation from the hydride to the SmCo5 phase, so that the kinetics of such transformations can be studied from hydrogen desorption from the hydride. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
