Abstract
The relationships among reading readiness, preferred sensory modality, and reading achievement of 82 first-grade boys and girls from a low socio-economic area of New York City were studied. A step-wise multiple-regression analysis indicated that the major variable related to predicting first-grade reading achievement was reading readiness. Keywords
