Abstract
This paper re‐evaluates some traditional approaches to the study of children's drawing in the light of current process‐oriented research. A tentative synthesis of various accounts of developmental stages in drawing is followed by an appraisal of the analysis of drawings in applied psychology. Some of the main features and implications of the new approach are outlined. Keywords
