Abstract
4 Ss learned to identify 4 tones and then judged sequences of these tones presented in random order at constant intensity. Found marked guessing habits at or below the average value of the threshold (signal-to-noise ratios lower than 22 lb.). The frequency of S's judgment errors was controlled by stimulus intensity, while the pattern of errors was governed by S's guessing habits.
