Abstract
Summary: The titration methods of sulphonamides with visual indicators in non-aqueous solvents are shortly reviewed. A method is recommended for assaying sulphathiazole, sulphadiazine, sulphamerazine, sulphadimidine and succinylsulphathiazole by titrating in pyridine solution with sodium methoxide in benzene-methanol mixture 3:1; indicator, thymol blue in methanol. The method is more convenient than the nitrite method and gives the same results. When assaying tablets attention must be paid to excipients which have acidic properties, and cause high results.
