Abstract
The object of this work was to obtain information on the possibility of indexing dislocations by the presence of etchpits. High-purity zinc single crystals have been etched in 0·1 % iodine in alcohol and the distribution of the etchpits was studied. This agreed with the theoretical calculations based on the interaction of dislocations, provided every etchpit is taken to represent the site of a single dislocation of unit strength. Keywords
