Abstract
Model studies on particle dispersion have led to insights which have increased understanding of the mixing process. Despite the complex flows which arise in practical mixing equipment, model calculations have highlighted the essential flow patterns which occur and have guided understanding of the application and limits of use of practical techniques such as power integrators. Using these tools, process engineers have realized substantial savings in energy usage and mixing time, while maintaining or improving mix quality. Keywords
