Cross-Reacting Tumor-Specific Transplantation Antigens in Methylcholanthrene-Induced Guinea Pig Sarcomas

Abstract
Cross-reacting tumor-specific transplantation antigens were demonstrated in two of three methylcholanthrene-induced strain-2 guinea pig sarcomas. In addition, water-soluble extracts prepared from the two cross-reacting tumors contained cross-reacting tumor-specific transplantation antigens. Electron microscopic studies revealed virus-like particles similar to those previously described in strain-2 guinea pig leukemias in two of the three tumors examined, but the cross reactions between these tumors could not be correlated with the presence of these viral particles.
