Abstract
The tunnelling density of states measured on the normal side of a proximity-effect double-layer is experimentally investigated. An empirical model for the calculation of the density of states is suggested and is shown to account for most of the observed features. The importance of taking into consideration, in such studies, the influence of the normal metal upon the superconductor is pointed out. Keywords
