Abstract
All 4 substances were isolated from methanolic extracts of crab tissue after silver, barium, phosphotungstic acid and dipicrylamine-magnesium precipitation. Addition of Reinecke salt at alkaline pH led to the isolation of the base C4H9O2N; on acidification trimethylamine oxide was obtained (also crystallized as the chloro-aurate); on precipitation of the filtrate with flavianic acid a mixture of the homarine and trigonelline salts was obtained, which could be resolved by means of paper chromatography. Insufficient amounts of the base were isolated, but it was shown that it was neither dimethyl glycine nor an aminobutyric acid. Analysis indicates the presence of 2 methyl groups. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
