Abstract
Measurements of magnetic susceptibility of Fe, CO, Ni-alloys in fcc-crystals and in the melt up to 2200 K in a newly designed magnetometer show in the melt a much simpler Curie Weiß behavior (moments proportional to the 3d-electron numbers and ferromagnetic exchange), than in the fcc solids. The main parameter controlling the magnetic properties seem to be the interatomic distances
