Abstract
SUMMARY: In several sets of counts of Aphis fabae colonies on bean stems, obtained with different sampling methods, variance was always proportional to the same power of the mean; s2=amb where b= 1.72 and a differed by different sampling methods. The resulting standard transformation for A. fabae on beans, z=x0 2, is marginally more effective than z= log (x+1).Keywords
