Abstract
The extensive use of drugs among older people and the potential for drug misuse among members of this age group suggest that social workers need a base of knowledge and skills for dealing effectively with the problem of misuse. After reviewing data on the use of drugs among the elderly, the author describes key roles that social workers can perform in undertaking interdisciplinary intervention with older consumers of drugs. Keywords
