Abstract
The zero field splitting of the nickel(II) ion can have measurable effects on the E.P.R. spectra of heterodinuclear transition metal complexes. In this paper we will apply a simple method to calculate the g and A tensors of the ground Kramers doublet of copper(II)-nickel(II) exchange coupled pairs as a function of the spin hamiltonian parameters of the two isolated ions and of the exchange parameters. This model will be applied to reinterpret the E.P.R. spectra of some copper(II)-nickel(II) pairs.
