Abstract
The immature cat brain had a striking resistance to the development of edema after localized cortical cold injury. In contrast to adult brain, no significant volume changes were found, and the spread of edema through the underlying white matter was greatly limited, as determined by systematically administered blood-brain barrier indicators. The differences between immature and adult rat brain in the edematous reaction to the triethyl tin. poisoning were less clear-cut and primarily of a quantitative nature. Keywords
