Abstract
Wiley''s arguments on the origin of higher taxa from monotypic taxa are replied to using the Actinopterygii and Sarcopterygii as examples. The paraphyly of monotypic genera seems to be a necessary corollary of the definition of a monophyletic group as one having a stem species unique to itself or as one constituting a complete sister-group system. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
