Abstract
Health-related Quality of Life (HRQOL) status is a meaningful part of assessing the impact of disease in patients with chronic bowel disorders. It is influenced by the clinical condition but also by environmental and patient-related factors. This manuscript will highlight how HRQOL measurement can be used in chronic bowel disorders, using examples in inflammatory bowel disease, and how different types of instruments or study design may change the picture of health status. Keywords
