Abstract
The homogeneous unimolecular decomposition of CF3OH was studied in a quartz flow reactor with a fixed‐length, variable temperature reaction zone, using chemical ionization detection of CF3OH. The pressure independent rate coefficient for the decomposition of CF3OH in N2 was measured to be k∞ (T)=(3 +27, −2.7) × 1011 s−1 exp{(−(19±4) × 103)/T}, which translates to a lifetime of greater than 104 years with respect to unimolecular decomposition in the atmosphere. Keywords
