Abstract
Sodium thiocyanate peptizes protein, and should alleviate and counteract all disturbances due to coagulation of nerve proteins. Its intravenous injection into rabbits relieves unconsciousness due to ether, amytal or morphine more rapidly than is normal, can prevent death from strychnine or histamine, and can prevent anaphylactic shock in rabbits previously sensitized by egg-white sol. Potassium thiocyanate is more toxic and cannot safely be substituted for the Na salt. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
