To the Editor: We have recently seen an unusual manifestation of sickle-cell disease (S-S) that we call to the attention of readers to ascertain whether it is a real and noteworthy finding.A 23-year-old black woman with known sickle-cell disease since the age of 3 months was recently seen during a crisis, but this time with an additional complaint of pain and swelling of the right knee.
