Abstract
The numbers of young fish, excluding clupeids, taken in a 2 m ring trawl in the plankton off Plymouth were as high in the year 1966 as they were during the 1920s and early 1930s. There is thus evidence that the period of decreased abundance which began after 1934 and has apparently persisted since then may have ended. The year 1966 was a very early year for spring spawners and this can be correlated with the high water temperatures prevailing in the early months of that year. Keywords
