Abstract
Batches of roach from two contrasting habitats were exercised in a flume at various water velocities for 1 h, and muscle metabolite levels were determined. It was found that the percentage change in lactate was greater in fish from the still water habitat than that in their running water counterparts, and it is proposed that natural conditioning of fish to water flow may be one of the main factors responsible. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
