Abstract
Photoelectric observations were made of the total solar eclipse of 1963 July 20 from an aircraft at an altitude of 30 000 ft. Data are presented for the absolute brightness of the solar corona and for the relative depth of the H α absorption line in the spectrum of the corona to a distance of 16 R0 ; the line depth was measured using interference filters. A separation of the F and K components based on the line depth measurements is given to 16 R0 from the Sun.Keywords
