Abstract
Despite the many publications on the carotid sinus since the anatomic and physiologic studies of Hering1and the clinical studies of Weiss and Baker,2many cases of carotid sinus syncope remain unrecognized. Another frequent but less widely known syndrome, the neurovascular syndrome,3is rarely diagnosed. Because of the association of these two syndromes in 1 patient, the following case is reported. CASE REPORT W. McN. was first seen on July 7, 1945, when he complained of a spell of unconsciousness and periods when he thought he was going to "pass out." He gave a history of being knocked unconscious for a few seconds by a blow on the head early in 1943. On Oct. 11, 1944, objects suddenly appeared small and far away, and unconsciousness soon followed. He was given an injection of some kind and slept about fourteen hours.
