Abstract
Large losses of solute can occur with internal‐loop injection valves, especially if the assignments of the injection and waste ports are reversed and a highly volatile diluent is used. However, good performance can be obtained even with the port assignments reversed and with a volatile diluent if a flow restrictor is attached to the waste port. Keywords
