Abstract
This article discusses a study that investigated the characteristics of clarifier sludge from selected water treatment plants and evaluated several methods of treatment. The study included the examination of two water treatment plants that utilize alum as a chemical coagulant, use upflow units for clarification, and treat Lake Ontario water. The investigation considered four methods of treatment including vacuum filters, centrifuges, lagoons, and drying beds. Keywords
