Flood Simulator for the River Kitakami

Abstract
Recent developments in electronic computers have resulted in the production of a variety of simulators. One of these is a hybrid computing system manu factured to perform analysis and prediction of floods on the river Kitakami. Having an analog computer as a main assembly, the system operates to indicate the water level and discharge at every moment in the main stream and each branch according to the volume of rainfall wen by means of punched paper tape. It is a novel large-scale special system which is in practical use. The introduction into the computer of volume of rainfall by means of a multiplex time- variable function generator and the use of transfer function representation for hydrographic data are the most conspicuous among many features.
