Abstract
The problem of internal reflection of an electromagnetic wave at a transverse discontinuity created by an imperfect dielectric filling a rectangular wave guide supporting the TEI0 mode is rigorously solved. A method of superposition of electromagnetic fields in the waveguide is applied which is the limiting case of the method of transformation into an equivalent plane wave (TEPW). An analytical solution for power density is developed in order to retrieve the complex dielectric constant from a three point power measurement. Experimental results for the complex permittivity of seed corn are presented and compared with results based on the infinite sample method.
