Abstract
INTUSSUSCEPTION may closely simulate Henoch's purpura with bleeding into the intestine; accurate diagnosis is of great importance, for the treatment of the first condition is surgical or by barium enema, whereas in the second, operation may prove harmful. Yet the two conditions may coexist, and failure to realize this and act promptly may cost the patient's life. Since Vierhuff1 reported the coincident occurrence of anaphylactoid purpura and intussusception in 1893, 24 cases have been recorded in the literature. An additional case is here presented, with a review of the subject.Case ReportL.H. (K.F.H. 414947), a 5-year-old girl, was admitted . . .Keywords
