Abstract
Water can induce a high-temperature thermally stimulated current peak (295 degrees C at 1 degrees C s-1) in G163 PTFE. This current is produced by the movement of positive charge carriers. The peak is eliminated by annealing at 320 degrees C for 3 h but gradually reappears over many weeks. It appears to be due to water being both adsorbed and absorbed.
