Abstract
The broods from guppies Lebistea reticulatus are usually small owing to cannibalism by the parent and other fish before the swim‐bladders of the fry are inflated. When cannibalism is eliminated, by confining each female in a maternity cage, the number of fry in the brood from domesticated grey guppies is a linear function of the total length of the female. Keywords
