Abstract
Of a total of 958 patients with cardiac disorders investigated at Khartoum Hospital over a recent 3 year period, 243 (25%), were suffering from rheumatic heart disease. Twenty of these patients have been operated upon, typical valvular lesions being found. The relative incidence was considerably higher than has been reported from other parts of Africa. It appears almost certain that there has been a real increase over the last 20 years. Keywords
