Abstract
The salts OSClF2 +X–(X–= AsF6 –, PF6 –, SbF6 –, and Sb2F11 –) are prepared in good yield by the reaction of thionyl fluoride with the Cl2F+ salt, or chlorine monofluoride and the corresponding pentafluoride under the appropriate conditions. The identity, and ionic formulation of these salts is established by comparison of their i.r. and Raman spectra with those of the corresponding anions and OPClF2. The thermal stability increases in the order: PF6 – < AsF6 – < SbF6 – < Sb2F11 –. Their mass spectra are consistent with initial dissociation into OSClF3 and the corresponding pentafluoride. Keywords
