A note on the racemization of serine

Abstract

Serine was not racemized at pH 9 at room temp. as Daft and Coghill (Jour. Biol. Chem. 90: 341. 1931) supposed; neither was it racemized by excess of N NaOH at room temp. but was racemized at 105[degree] and pH 11.4 whereas alanine was unchanged at pH 134 and 105[degree].
