Abstract
The urinary exogenous estrogen excretion pattern (estrone, estradiol, and estriol) in 10 healthy women in the preovulatory and postovulatory phases of the menstrual cycle following injn. of a single, 2.0 mg., dose of estrone was determined colorimetrically. The avg. total urinary exogenous estrogen recoveries for the preovulatory and postovulatory periods were 5.0 and 4.6% respectively. Unconverted estrone constituted the major fraction of recovered estrogen in each phase and there was no distinguishing estrogen excretion pattern for either phase of the cycle. The physiologic status (proliferative or progestational) of the endometrium in women contributes so feebly, if at all, to the character of the urinary estrogen pattern that no dependable deductions as to the physiologic status of the uterine endometrium can be derived. Keywords
