Abstract
Experiments have been performed on log phase unstarved yeast cells, by using X-ray fractionated doses, in order to investigate the kinetics of recovery from sublethal damage. The results are compared with those obtained by Elkind et al. using mammalian cells and by the authors using starved diploid yeast cells from the lag phase. The recovery kinetics of log phase cells show a marked similarity to those observed in several kinds of mammalian cells and in other organisms. The decrease in survival observed during recovery process could be explained by a synchronization induced by the first X-ray dose, probably producing an accumulation of the cells in a more radiosensitive state. Keywords
