Abstract
Athletes, whether professional or recreational, constitute an ever-increasing portion of the population. An injured athlete, who is accustomed to a high level of activity and who undoubtedly wants to return to that level as soon as possible, needs a physician who can not only provide effective treatment but also offer methods to prevent a potentially chronic condition from developing. Here Dr Cooney provides an overview of the many types of injury to the upper extremity that may occur during athletic activities and up-to-date techniques for their diagnosis and treatment. Keywords
