Abstract
In this ankle the uses of the microcomputer in the administrative office at the site level and the central office are discussed and it is recommended that an administrator who is going into computing for the first time should start with a good word processing system and then graduate to an electronic spread sheet such as VisiCalc or MulliPlan. General accounting also may be done on the computer. Caution is given if trying to do attendance accounting on the microcomputer. A good data base management system is a valuable tool for the administrator and can do everything from inventory to lunch ticket count. Finally the administrator can write his/her own programs to take care of some of the traditional paper shuffling routines such as suspending a child from school. Extreme caution is urged that the administrator must start slowly and add to the computer system as he/she gains knowledge and confidence in the system. Overnight miracles are not to be expected.
