Rutilantin: an antibiotic substance with antiphage activity

Abstract

A simple method has been developed for the isolation and partial purification of rutilantin from cultures of an actinomycete (A 220). The antiphage activity of the isolated material is at least 50 times its antibacterial activity. The partly purified substance is toxic to mice.
