Abstract
The MCCP is an instrument measuring parental control behavior. It comprises 48 items which 13 independent judges had previously identified as representative of coercive or inductive behavior. An analysis was made of the construct validity and reliability of this instrument, using a sample of 185 parents, and a sub-group (N=56) drawn from the same sample and tested with the same instrument after an 8-mo. interval. A previous analysis had shown that these 2 constructs were statistically independent. Following elimination of 3 items (presenting a 2 low item-total correlation), results indicated that the measures are reliable (.alpha. = 0.87 and 0.82) and that the constructs are stable and valid. The MCCP is at present the only French instrument measuring parental control which has these psychometric properties. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
