Abstract
A special form of mitochondria has been observed in subpial and perivascular astrocytes of the Syrian hamster brain. The interior structural pattern of these unusual mitochondria is characterized mainly by the presence of numerous equilateral prismatic tubules having a highly regular arrangement. The functional significance of these atypical mitochondria remains obscure.
