Abstract
Painting, in all schools and periods of time, and under the influence of a variety of aesthetic theories, implies communication between the artist and the viewer. The materials of painting, and the techniques whereby they are applied, may thus be compared with a cybernetic system, some of the elements of which can be discussed in terms of physics. Such an analysis defines the possibilities available to the painter, and the limitations imposed upon him. Keywords
