Abstract
The magnetic and recording characteristics of Co-Cr-Ta tape were investigated. The Co-Cr-Ta tape was prepared by facing targets sputtering (FTS) system. The magnetic characteristics of Co-Cr-Ta tape such as crystallinity, Hk and ΔHc/Hc were improved by adding a small amount of Ta to Co-Cr film as a third element and using Kr as a sputtering gas. Recording characteristics at short wavelength of the Co-Cr-Ta tape were investigated using a helical-scan VTR machine. Reproduced output of 85 nVo-p/(μm·T·m/s) and a C/N of 54.5 dB(R.B.W.=30kHz) were obtained at 150kFRPI.Keywords
