Abstract
The combination of hypothermia (4[degree] C.) and hyperbaric O2 (30 to 60 psig.) apperars to be an effective and simple means of preserving renal transplants for periods of 24 hr. Experiments with canine renal autotransplants have been presented to show that hypothermic (4[degree] C.) or hyperbaric O2 (30 to 60 psig.), when used independently, will not result in the same degree of success as when used in combination. The majority of animals receiving renal autotransplants preserved for 24 hr. by combined hypothermia-hyperbaric O2 were alive, nor-motensive and possessive of good renal function at least 1 yr. following contralateral nephrectomy. This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
