Abstract
High spin states in 42Ca between 4.1 and 7.4 MeV excitation energy were populated in the reaction 28Si(16O,2p) at 36.5-50 MeV beam energy. Using the recoil distance Doppler shift method, their lifetimes and upper limits of their spins were determined. Neither strongly enhanced E2 transitions nor rotational-like behaviour of these states were observed. Keywords
