Abstract
After percutaneous puncture of the common carotid artery has been accomplished, preliminary films of the neck vessels are taken. Should significant vascular disease or stenoses be present, conventional carotid angiography can be performed via the needle. If the carotid artery is free of significant disease, the needle is replaced by a polyethylene catheter and safe, intraluminal injection of contrast material can be made selectively into the internal or external carotid artery. Keywords
