Abstract
Using a mathematical model P. falciparum transition rates were calculated from the parasitological data collected from children of 2 villages of a high and seasonal transmission area in Burkina Faso (West Africa). During the rainy season, patent parasitaemia appeared every 40 to 60 d and was present for 60d approximately. The significance of these values is discussed. Keywords
