Abstract
The rf preferential plugging of multi-ion species plasma is studied experimentally in a magnetic cusp: Desired ion species can be plugged and the others escape from the container. The conditions necessary to realize an impurity-free cusp reactor using this concept are discussed. It is shown that impurities, specifically krypton and argon, can be preferentially reduced in the reactor. Keywords
