Abstract
Thymi were removed from rabbits at 4, 6 and 12 hr. after injection of cortisol. Nuclei, microsomal, ribosomal and the pH 5.1 fractions were prepared and the in vitro incorporation of leucine-l-14c was determined and compared with the activity of similar fractions from control tissue. The activity of all fractions was inhibited at 4 hr. inhibition being greatest in the microsomal fraction. Analysis of cytoplasmic fractions for nuclear breakdown products indicated only small amounts of DNA in preparations from treated tissue 4 hr. after cortisol. At 12 hr. after cortisol microsomal preparations contained 28% DNA; lesser amounts were found in other fractions. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
