Abstract
The use of synthetic peptides in biochemical and histochemical assays has considerably contributed to the progress in protease research and therefore to our knowledge about proteases in healthy and diseased cells and tissues (cf. Huseby and Smith, 1980, Gossrau, 1981; Lojda, 1981; Gossrau et al., this volume).
